Curtis Clark took the minutes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Opens: - Arpad wished everyone a Happy New Year and noted that we will have meetings on the 14th and 21st of January. The meeting scheduled for the 28th is cancelled because of DesignCon. ------------- Review of ARs: - Walter to email draft 2 of the BCI for statistical proposal to ATM. - Done. - Walter and Randy to work on a new iteration of a proposal for BIRD198. - In progress. Randy noted that he had sent an email with proposed new syntax rules to Walter, Arpad, Mike L., and Bob. Because of the holiday break, no one had yet reviewed the email and responded. -------------------------- Call for patent disclosure: - None. ------------------------- Review of Meeting Minutes: Arpad asked for any comments or corrections to the minutes of the December 17 meeting. Walter moved to approve the minutes. Randy seconded the motion. There were no objections. ------------- New Discussion: BCI for statistical mode: Walter noted that he had not received any comments via email on draft 2. He noted that he planned to submit the latest version to Randy to receive an official BIRD number and be introduced at the Open Forum meeting on January 10. Bob asked if the new proposal depended on the other existing BCI parameters. Walter confirmed that it relied on BCI_State, BCI_Protocol, and possibly BCI_ID. Bob asked if the dependencies should be explained in the Other Notes: section. Walter noted that the new BCI_Training_Mode parameter had been added to the tables listing the Usage, Data Type, Format, etc., for the BCI Reserved parameters, and he thought this was sufficient. Bob said the interactions between parameters may need to be explained explicitly, but this could be added in a later revision if necessary (after submitting the BIRD and getting an official number). Arpad noted the Note 1 appearing after the Usage Table: "1) Illegal for AMI_Version 6.0 and earlier" and asked if this needed to be updated. Randy said that this Note 1 applied to the Usage "Dep", which was introduced in 6.1. He said it did not have to be modified for this BIRD. Bob noted that we do have a table that lists the versions of IBIS in which each Reserved Parameter was introduced. Randy confirmed that this is Table 39 in IBIS 7.0. He noted that BCI_Training_Mode should be added to that table. Walter added a note to that effect to the BIRD draft. Walter said he would submit this version of the proposal to Randy as an official BIRD. BIRD197.6 - DC_Offset: Fangyi noted that he had been away for several weeks and had just gotten a chance to review the changes introduced in BIRD197.6. He noted concerns about the two "scenarios" described in the Other Notes: section. Fangyi noted that 2.a. stated that the EDA tool was using the DC_Offset value from the .ami file in this example, and he noted that this should never be the case. Walter agreed that the EDA tool never uses the DC_Offet value from the .ami file, it is a placeholder. Walter agreed 2.a. was incorrect. Fangyi suggested that 1.a. through 1.d. sufficiently illustrated both scenario 1 and scenario 2. The group agreed, and Fangyi merged the introductory sentences from scenario 2 with scenario 1. Scenario 2 and items 2.a. through 2.d, were then removed. Curtis suggested that 1.a.: "In the example below, the EDA tool ignores the specified DC_Offset value..." was still misleading because the EDA tool should always ignore the value from the .ami file. The group agreed. A sentence explaining that the EDA tool always ignores the value of DC_Offset from the .ami file was added to the introductory sentences. Item 1.a. was removed, and item 1.b was rewritten to make it clear what assumptions were being made for this illustrative example. Bob noted that we should add a new BIRD197.7 entry to the Background Information section. Fangyi added it and said he would send the cleaned up version of the document to Randy for submission to the Open Forum as BIRD197.7 - Ambrish: Motion to adjourn. - Curtis: Second. - Arpad: Thank you all for joining. AR: Walter to send the BCI for statistical proposal to Randy for submission to the Open Forum as a BIRD. AR: Fangyi to send the modified version of BIRD197 to Randy for submission to the Open Forum as BIRD197.7. ------------- Next meeting: 14 January 2020 12:00pm PT ------------- IBIS Interconnect SPICE Wish List: 1) Simulator directives
